Exporters Overview

Exporters are specialized, lightweight adapters that bridge the gap between third-party systems and Prometheus! 🌉

Since not every application natively speaks the Prometheus metrics format, exporters act as translators. They fetch data from external systems, translate it on the fly, and serve it up on a standard /metrics endpoint for Prometheus to scrape.

  • 🌍 Blackbox Exporter: Actively probes external and internal HTTP/HTTPS endpoints to monitor uptime, response times, and general availability.
  • 🐘 Postgres Exporter: Gathers deep performance, connection, and health metrics directly from our central PostgreSQL database.
  • 🛡️ Cert Exporter: Constantly monitors TLS certificate expiration dates across the cluster to prevent unexpected outages.
  • ☸️ Kube State Metrics (KSM): Listens to the Kubernetes API to generate high-fidelity metrics about the state of our deployments, pods, allocations, and nodes.
  • ⚡ Redis Exporter: Exposes memory, connection, and performance metrics for both central and application-specific Redis instances.
