Recommended Tool: Redis App Plugin

While the Redis Exporter does a great job collecting raw metrics, we highly recommend using the redis-app Grafana plugin for all your day-to-day monitoring and visualization!

The plugin comes loaded with comprehensive, ready-to-use dashboards and a custom UI that lets you query your databases directly.

You should only fall back on the raw metrics provided by this exporter if the redis-app plugin is missing a highly specific, edge-case metric you absolutely need.

🏢 Central vs. Developer-Deployed Instances​

We support two primary workflows for using and monitoring Redis in our stack:

  1. Managed Central Redis: The infrastructure team maintains a rock-solid, central Redis instance. The infrastructure-level redis-exporter is dedicated exclusively to monitoring this managed instance.
  2. Developer-Deployed Redis: If your team needs custom Redis instances running alongside your applications, you are covered! The exporter is already built directly into our standard deployment charts, working out of the box. 🚀
